The Relationship Between Indicators of Inflammation and Vitamin D Status in Newborns

A recent research study supports an associating between low vitamin D levels and inflammation in newborns. This study found a significant difference between deficient, sufficient and insufficient groups in terms of newborn hemoglobin, neutrophil, monocytes, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, platelet count, platelet to lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil to monocyte ratio. These findings suggest that inflammation in newborns may be a sign of vitamin D deficiency.
