The Effect of Vitamin D Supplementation on Depressive Symptoms in Adults

A meta-analysis of 41 randomized placebo-controlled trials found that vitamin D supplementation ≥ 2,000 IU/day appears to reduce depressive symptoms.

The researchers noted, “Our results suggest that vitamin D supplementation has beneficial effects in both individuals with major depressive disorder as well as in those with milder, clinically significant depressive symptoms."
