Mission

Solius Web Solutions is dedicated to creating high quality, custom web sites for small businesses in the Canandaigua / Rochester / Finger Lakes area and beyond. We recognize the need for a different kind of web design company: one that takes the time to educate customers and explain the impact of the web on small companies, as well as design truly useful and affordable web sites. We blend professional design and production with personal, down-to-earth service. As a small company ourselves, we understand that in business, one size does not fit all.

History

Solius Web Solutions was founded in 1998 by Jennifer Weber, originally under the name Studio Solius Web Site Design. The name was changed in 2001 to reflect the addition of other web services, including hosting, e-commerce, and database development.

Jennifer worked for Apple Computer, Inc. as a Student Representative while studying creative writing and art at the University of Illinois. Since college, Jennifer has consulted for several businesses in the Chicago and Rochester areas, including Xerox Corporation and Agility Advertising Group. Now in its 10th year, Solius Web Solutions continues to build a network of satisfied customers, ranging from real estate developers to fine artists to manufacturing companies.

Solius Web Solutions is pleased to give back to the community by donating web sites to several local non-profit organizations, and is an active member in the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business.

Design Philosophy

Business web sites are about one thing: information. With this in mind, Solius Web Solutions builds sites that emphasize content, load quickly, and are easy to navigate. Design elements should not compete with the information presented for the user's attention. Animations and sounds, unless they contribute meaningfully to the content, are distracting as well as slow to download. Custom scripts and "interactive" elements must be used judiciously, as many require users to download a special plug-in, or work only on certain browsers and platforms. The user's experience should always be pleasant and productive, encouraging a return visit.
